Education

Education is central to our approach to healthcare. Every visit we receive from an expectant mother or a general health client is an opportunity for education, an opportunity to empower someone to make informed choices about their own health and the health of their family. In particular, we seek to educate people about nutrition, breastfeeding, and the benefits and risks of birth interventions, immunization and other medical procedures that might be suggested to them in the future.

When we are more fully established, we also intend to hold formal training programs for midwives, covering the techniques of gentle birth, how to advocate for the rights of birthing mothers, and how to educate mothers about the benefits of breastfeeding and good nutrition. Indonesian midwives already receive quite good technical training, but we'd like to offer opportunities for them to enhance their skills and practice them in an environment that encourages ongoing professional development.
